Updates

v4.2.8.0

  • Fixed a nasty bug which was introduced in a recent update, which caused the software to crash when a) Creating a new texture map and b) dragging and dropping it onto an object.
  • Menu->Help->Check for updates... now works properly in OS X.

v4.2.7.0

  • Improved Sculpted Prim Export. Sample objects and video tutorial to come shortly
  • Passwords for subscribers now forced to alpha-numeric, 6-12 characters. If you password does not fit this description, please reset it at by visiting the downloads section, logging out, and then resetting the password by clicking on "Forgot password? Click here to reset it"

v4.2.6.0

  • Fixed issue with Symmetry and objects with a non-zero 'Offset'. Also, free-floating vertices that are not attached to any polygons (often left over by accident when modeling) will no longer be considered in the symmetry calculations, as they were getting confused with the proper ones which are attached to polygons.
  • Background colors are now properly saved and reloaded in the Project files.
  • Added option to set a solid background color - Menu->Viewports->General...->Change to Solid Background Color. Also added option to revert to default background colors in the same menu.
  • Improved handling of texture map file names when exporting a CR2 file. If you export a texture map, and then save the CR2 file, the path to the newly exported map will be used, and not the path or the original map.
  • Automatic update improvements. In OS X, clicking on Help->Check for updates... indeed forces a check for updates as intended.

v4.2.5.0

  • Added 'Use Internal Name for groups' for importing/exporting OBJ files (was previously used by default with no option to turn off). Turn this option on when importing OBJ files that were EXPORTED from Poser (not loaded from the Geometries folder), to keep the grouping information consistent for morph target creation.
  • Creating materials and groups using vertex selections now preserves the edge properly. Likewise, when selecting the vertices belonging to a material (by double clicking on it in the manager) the edges will be better represented. It is still recommended that you use polygon selections (Tool Window->Control->Select Polygons) for any material/group/layer operations.
  • Image Map Layer strength/opacity is now saving and loading properly in .blacksmith3d project files.
  • File extension for .blacksmith3D project files now properly appended to the file name when saving in OS X.
  • When exporting maps in Windows, the default file type in the save dialog box now accurately reflects the type the image currently has (e.g. jpg, png, etc).
  • Issue with the mouse cursor occasionally disappearing in OS X resolved. If the mouse cursor still dissapears unexpectantly, please report it to us.

v4.2.4.0

  • Exporting CR2 files now properly saves the updated file names for renamed texture maps. e.g. If you import a CR2 file with maps applied, rename a map, and then export the CR2 file, the new map file name will be saved in the CR2 file.
  • Undoing a map->material assignment, when no image layers were present, was causing all maps to be cleared from the object. Fixed this bug so undoing/redoing map assignments works properly, regardless if image layers are present or not.
  • Problem maximizing the application window in OS X fixed. You can resize the window by clicking and dragging near the bottom right edge, even though it looks like you can't. Will improve this asap
  • Removed the weird error message when resizing the windows in OS X.

v4.2.3.0

  • New videos available on the youTube channel. Check them out!
  • Problem with clone brush not properly previewing paint strokes cloned from "Reference Images" fixed.
  • Problem with using symmetry, and unwelded seams fixed (as found in some Poser characters and Second Life avatar OBJ files)
  • A few minor tweaks and optimizations.

v4.2.2.0

  • Subscription Login Error that occured for some users has been fixed. If not you are still having trouble loggin in, please email us right away and we'll fix it for you.
  • Automatic updater updated and optimized. Now it only asks to check for updates once a week, unless you manually check via the 'Help->Check for updates...' menu item.

v4.2.1.0

  • New installers, combined with the Blacksmith3D-Launcher application (see next point), means no more manually downloading updates. Download and install once, and all updates will download and install automatically.
  • Introduced Blacksmith3D-Launcher application. It intelligently launches the software in 32 or 64 bit mode (64 only for Macintosh users) and checks periodically for updates (see next point). Now only one application will appear in your Blacksmith3D-Suite folder.
  • Automatic updates now available! Blacksmith3D-Suite will now check for weekly updates (with your permission of course) and automatically download and install them. You can also check for updates at any time via the Help menu.
  • Bug with undo buffer fixed. Previously, if there was a large amount of data in the undo buffer (from editing high resolution maps), the undo buffer could sometimes mangle the textures.
  • Various tweaks and optimizations
