"For both pros and students, I highly recommend this package. It was simple and intuitive to use Blacksmith3D with no complex hoop-jumping to load and save models or to load and save images. It just worked! Many of these hidden gems do incredible work, but at a fraction of the cost of their brand-name counterparts! This is one of those hidden gems."

Blacksmith3D Standard vs Professional

When deciding how to differentiate Blacksmith3D-Pro, our underlying philosophy was this...

Nearly everything is in Blacksmith3D-Standard. It has all the tools, utilities and features of the Professional version, except for the Texture Transformer. The standard simply has limited presets, image map layers and display groups. The comparison chart below shows the differences.

The Professional version has all the work-flow related features that will be utilized by professional modelers and texture artists. So, in Blacksmith3D-Standard, you just get less presets which are useful for a good professional work-flow.

Should I get Blacksmith3D-Standard or Blacksmith3D-Pro?

Here is our recommendation for making your purchasing decision.

  • If you are a hobbyist with a limited budget, go for Blacksmith3D-Standard. You can upgrade later, if you need it.
  • If you are a professional modeler or texture artist, or a serious hobbyist, then go for Blacksmith3D-Professional.

Either way, you get all of the great features of Blacksmith3D!
