- Basic Selections -

  • Choose the Selection Brush
  • Set the Culling option to Per Vertex. When this is checked, hidden vertices will not be selected.
  • Select a portion of the surface by clicking and dragging in the viewport
  • Press the S key to soften the selection.
  • Now, let's try another selection without any culling.
  • Viewing the object from the left, set the Culling option to None
  • Select another portion of the object.
  • Notice how the selection went through the object.
Additional Notes
  • To add to the selection, hold the SHIFT key before clicking.
  • To subtract from the selection, hold the ALT key before clicking.
  • To soften the selection outwards (such that it doesn't shrink), hold the SHIFT key while pressing S
  • To soften the selection inwards (such that it doesn't grow), hold the ALT key while pressing S
