Fade By Angle
When you paint on a curved surface, you will run into the problem of the paint getting
"stretched" as the angle between the surface and the viewing plane becomes greater. To
get around this problem, we use the Fade By Angle option, so as the angle increases,
our paint will fade, and not leave behind "stretch marks".

Intermediate Tutorials

Step 1. To get a feel for the Fade By Angle feature, start off with a white texture
map and black paint strokes. Make one paint stroke without Fade By Angle checked. Then, view it from the side.

Step 2. Next Make one paint stroke with Fade By Angle checked and the Falloff parameter set to 50%. Then, view it from the side.

Step 3. Set the falloff to 20%, and repeat to see how a lower value for falloff behaves.
|
Step 4. Set the falloff to 80%, and repeat to see how a higher value for falloff behaves.

Step 5. Now for something more interesting, choose a texture and uncheck the Fade By Angle box. Also,
check the Tile Brush Texture option in the Texture Options panel.

Step 6. From the front, paint the model. Then view the model from the side. Notice the texture stretching on the side.

Step 7. Again, check the Fade By Angle box and set Falloff to 30%. Paint the model from the side and the top.

Notice how the texture now looks good from all angles with no noticable strecthing.
